Forms of hosting services

A hosting service refers to stashing and/or sharing given web content on a hosting server run by a web hosting supplier. There are various types of hosting services utilized for various purposes, so let's have a glance at these. In that way, you can decide what you want, based on whether you wish to own a web page, mail address accounts, or to share files with pals and colleagues.

- File hosting: a solution distributed by particular hosts, which enables you to share enormous files. These could be disk images, motion pictures, audio files, archived documents, etc. This solution is also known as file storage, and its only aim is to share files, since it does not support website uploading. Once the files are uploaded, you will either receive a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to read a roster of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to see .html or .php web page files in your web browser. Free file storage solutions often involve ads beside the download links, while a timer compels you to await a certain stretch of time to view them. A given file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you buy a paid file hosting plan, there are no limits as to how many files you can upload/download straight away, and also there is no limit as far as the download speed and the file size are concerned.

These days, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting companies, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more trendy "cloud hosting". This is a totally awry explanation of the real connotation of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting environment would apportion the tasks at hand between separate bunches of web servers in a cluster, which are devoted to attending different web space hosting services (mail, disk storage, statistics, DNS, databases, website hosting Control Panel, and so on.) So, the file hosting service is merely a type of a data storage hosting solution, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even near.

- Image hosting: akin to file hosting; given vendors offer a hosting service for pictures exclusively. This hosting variant is good if you wish to share a vast quantity of pics with friends or partners since the solution is usually free of charge. You will receive a randomly generated link for each pic or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file storage service, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the solution cannot be used for web pages.

- Email hosting: a solution committed to handling your email mailbox accounts. Some providers offer web page hosting solutions for sites, but do not offer an email service. If you wish to have an e-mail address with your domain name but do not desire to own a website, then the e-mail hosting service is what you require. You can open electronic mail accounts and administer them, but there will be no web solution for the domains. The email hosting solution involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP email servers.

- Video hosting: this solution enables you to upload and share video files. You can either share a link to some video, or you can embed the video file in your site that is hosted elsewhere. The advantage of using this method in lieu of uploading the video file in a web hosting account is that the video creates a certain amount of central processing unit load, so with a bunch of videos and a few hundred viewers, you may have trouble with your web page hosting reserves. Embedding the video will allow you to administer as many videos as you want to without hassling about system supplies.

- Web hosting: this is the solution that you require if you would like to own a web site. To a certain extent, it involves all of the aforementioned hosting brands since, along with your web pages, you can also host pictures and files, you can keep databases and electronic mail accounts, upload video clips, and so on. At PhotoIreland Hosting, for example, you can take a glimpse at web hosting and dedicated hosting solutions that enable you to get all of the aforesaid solutions in one single location. There may be limitations depending on the form of hosting solution that you've selected - a free hosting package, a paid shared hosting account, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your web site hosting plan may be better or worse compared to the standard e-mail/file/video/image hosting plans that are tailored for particular content solely.
